Jay earned a bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis on broadcast performance from Metropolitan State University of Denver. After a year in the fields of radio and television broadcasting, Jay realized that it was not his passion. Thus, he began a new journey here in Colorado Springs.

Jay earned a master’s degree in communication with an emphasis on media studies from UCCS and has taught at UCCS and PPSC now for seven years. Classes that he teaches include but are not limited to: Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Communication in Popular Culture, Dimensions of Rhetoric in Communication, and American Cinema.

His hobbies include golfing, hiking, eating out with friends and loved ones, and movies (especially in theatres).
