Preparing for Graduation

Preparing for Graduation

UCCS Graduation Information

Here are some suggestions to help you wrap up your studies at UCCS. Undergrads should check out the UCCS Pre-Graduation Checklist, and graduate students should check out the Graduate School’s graduation info page.

e-Portfolio

All Communication undergraduate majors are required to submit an ePortfolio prior to completing their program.

An ePortfolio is an electronic version of a portfolio built within Canvas that provides a way to connect your knowledge with your professional goals by using course assignments or projects to demonstrate your skills and accomplishments.

Department Honors

Qualified students can choose to complete an honors project for the opportunity to attain the unique distinction of honors and complete work intended to help your career growth upon graduation.

Latin Honors

Q: What do I have to do to get Latin honors at graduation?
A: Nothing, they are calculated and awarded automatically.

Q: How are Latin honors calculated?
A: Latin Honors are calculated based on a student’s CU Cumulative GPA. For the commencement ceremony, including honor cords and the printed program, final semester grades may not be included in this calculation. Latin Honor designations are recalculated once all grades are posted and will be displayed on official diplomas and transcripts.

Q: How do we get cords if we are graduating with honors?
A: Latin honor cords will be distributed at the ceremony.

Q: What are the Latin honors colors?
A:
Summa Cum Laude (old gold)
Letters, Arts and Sciences – 3.9 or above

Magna Cum Laude (silver)
Letters, Arts and Sciences – 3.7-3.89

Cum Laude (bronze)
Letters, Arts and Sciences – 3.5-3.69

Q: Who do I contact if I am not attending the ceremony and want to receive Latin Honor cords?
A: Please email the Advising Office (advising@uccs.edu). They will confirm and provide information for receipt.
