Highlights
I have been teaching in the Communication Department for more than 27 years, and have taught a variety of courses during that time. I absolutely love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else. My main academic interests include online education, instructional communication, and assessment of student learning. I am the Director of our Online program, Course Director for Research Methods, as well as the Assessment Director for the Communication Department. I am an enthusiastic advocate for rigorous, quality online learning courses and programs. My most recent research project focuses on learning communities in the online environment. Additionally, I have written a textbook specifically for advanced public speakers and the skills and tools they will need for 21st-century presentations.
On a personal level, one of the more unique things about me is that my husband and I alternate our lives between CO and a sailboat. We have traded in the land life for a floating home that goes "where the wind takes us" (as long as we have internet of course...). Check out our blog if you want to read more... Moxie at Sea
Other than travel, I am a rabid (and I do mean rabid) football fan, primarily college football (GO VOLS!), but an enthusiastic Bronco fan as well. I also run, lift weights, and play as much golf as I can fit in. I hope to get my handicap down low enough to play in Scotland and not embarrass myself. :)
